Do najgroźniejszych chorób przechowalniczych należą: zaraza ziemniaka, mokra i sucha zgnilizna bulw, antraknoza ziemniaka, parch srebrzysty oraz wodna zgnilizna przyranowa bulw.

Oosporiosis – a storage disease of potato tubers. Notice
Abstract
The storage period of potato tubers, depending on their intended use, may range from several weeks to nine months or longer. Consumer expectations and the requirements of the processing industry make it necessary for potato producers to maintain high quality during storage. Natural physiological processes occurring in tubers, together with infections caused by storage pathogens, result not only in quantitative losses of the stored crop but also in deterioration of tuber quality and market value. The most important storage diseases of potato include late blight, wet rot, dry rot, potato anthracnose, silver scurf, and leak of potato tubers. The incidence and severity of these diseases depend on environmental conditions during the growing season and at harvest. One disease that occurs only sporadically and whose development is closely associated with specific weather conditions is oosporiosis (skin spot). The disease is caused by the fungus Polyscytalum pustulans and is of particular importance in seed potato production.

The storage period, depending on the purpose of the harvested tubers, can range from several weeks to 9 months or more. The requirements set by consumers and the processing industry make it necessary for potato producers to take care of the high quality of stored tubers. During storage, natural processes occurring in tubers and infestation by pathogens causing storage diseases cause losses that not only reduce the amount of stored crop, but also affect its quality, causing a loss of commercial value. The most dangerous storage diseases include: potato blight, wet and dry tuber rot, potato anthracnose, silver scab and watery early morning rot of tubers. These diseases appear on stored tubers, depending on the conditions prevailing during the growing season and during tuber harvesting. A disease that occurs sporadically and its occurrence is associated with meteorological conditions is oosporiosis. The culprit is the fungus Polyscytalum pustulans, and the disease is of great importance in the cultivation of tubers intended for seed potatoes.

Potato haulm desiccation: principles, methods and current desiccants
Abstract
Potato vine desiccation, commonly referred to as haulm destruction, is a pre-harvest practice used to prepare potato crops for harvesting. It is also regarded as the final plant protection treatment, as it helps protect tubers against late blight infection. In seed potato production, desiccation is often carried out while plants are still actively growing and is therefore referred to as early haulm destruction. Its primary purpose is to prevent tuber infection by viruses and to limit the spread of viral diseases. Potato haulms can be destroyed using one of three methods: mechanical, chemical, or integrated mechanical-chemical desiccation. The mechanical-chemical approach is considered the most effective because it ensures uniform drying of the haulms while preventing regrowth. In 2026, five desiccant products are registered for professional use in Poland, based on three active ingredients: ethyl carfentrazone, nonanoic acid, and ethyl pyraflufen.
