XXIV National Potato Days are behind us!
A great event that became a potato festival in Poland took place on August 26-27, 2017.
The 24th National Potato Days organized in Kalinowa in the Sieradz poviat gathered almost 10,000 people from Poland and abroad. During the meeting, a field collection of over 100 potato varieties was shown to be very popular, and a demonstration of the most modern field machines during harvest was presented. In addition to new potato varieties, you could learn about modern methods of cultivation and processing, innovative technologies of planting, care and harvesting as well as fertilizing and protecting potato plantations. Additionally, the demonstration plots could assess the impact of the most common agrotechnical errors on tuber quality and yield.
At the IHAR-PIB stand, Branch in Bonin, collections of tubers of 80 different varieties were presented, divided into early and culinary types. During the fair, employees of IHAR – PIB conducted training sessions and discussion seminars on cultivation technology, storage, potato varieties and legal regulations. Throughout the fair, it was possible to ask questions and consult specialists in the field of technological suitability, recognition and protection against diseases and pests in specially prepared consultation points. The IHAR-PIB stand on in vitro potato collection was also very popular. Thank you to all co-organizers for great cooperation. Special thanks to HR Kalinowa, Agrosad and the Polish Potatoes Association for the great atmosphere and support provided.
The next XXV Jubilee National Potato Days will be held in Bonin near Koszalin next year.
